The Professional Pages articles
are written for health care and therapeutic professionals who work with
babies, children, and their parents. Some articles contain insights, frameworks,
or practical suggestions you can use to improve your collaborative relationships
with families. Other articles are addressed more to your needs as
a professional and caring person who works with families in crisis. In
all of our articles, we provide developmentally supportive care tailored
for professionals, so that you are better equipped and affirmed in your
efforts to provide developmentally supportive care for families. In
many cases, these articles can apply to a wide range of pediatric medical
specialties, and are not exclusively for working with families of premature
babies.
For additional useful information on building collaborative relationships
with families, be sure to look at the articles under the Collaboration
Pages. Also
see the Consulting
Pages (Partners
in Perinatal and Pediatric Consulting) if you would like assistance in
promoting professional competencies, creating or improving policies, advice
on specific situations, or referrals to other resources.
This website is a companion to our book, Parenting
Your Premature Baby and Child: The Emotional Journey (Fulcrum,
2004), where you will find more insights and guidance on working with families
in the NICU and beyond. We also encourage you to refer to the many supportive
and informative Resources that
are available. Finally, you may want to bookmark this page as we will be
adding more content over time.
